Preseli Bluestone

Belying its name, Preseli Bluestone is usually yellowish in colour. It has a beautiful blue interior – explaining the Bluestone part of its name – which is revealed when carved or cut into smaller peices.

The holed stone left shows off the pretty blue interior to perfection.

Preseli Bluestone is one of the two main stone types used at Stonehenge. Somehow, the stones were dragged 150 miles from the Preseli Hills, Pembrokeshire in Wales to Salisbury for the monument.
